Continuing ballet skills

Learning ballet at our studio promotes good posture, poise and strength. We work on developing a confident, happy and energetic dancers, learning skills and stamina that can be used in any area of life.

We teach a syllabus devised by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). This work is carefully graded to suit children to develop ballet skills slowly & carefully while encouraging enthusiasm and freedom of dance.

Our age levels are designed to fit with NZ school year age groups. Students in Year 7 (turning 11 before June 1st cutoff as a general rule) are in Ballet 5.

Students will need to take x2 one-hour classes of Ballet 5 and x1 30min or 45 min pointe prep each week. There is also an elective of Dance conditioning (optional). 

Class Times and Days 2021

Uniform

Dance schools all around the world wear a dance uniform, to help students and teachers alike get the most out of class. Long hair should be in a ballet bun for ballet or tied back neatly for class.

For your first class, don’t worry if you don’t have the uniform yet, just wear something comfortable to move in, and bare feet.  Upon enrolment we will send you all the information you need about dance uniform, hair etc.  

Option 1

• Lavender wide-strap leotard
• Ballet tights
• Ballet shoes
• Character Skirt
• Cuban heel character shoes

Option 2

• White short-sleeved leotard
• Black leggings
• White socks
• White ballet shoes
• Character Shoes

Tuition

Registration Fee:

A one-off registration fee of $25 per new student or $40 per new family.  

Tuition Term Packages:

2021 terms are a minimum of 8 weeks, some terms are longer (9 or 10 weeks) but there is no extra cost.

Term tuition package includes:

• Weekly class
• Student access to WDA Online Studio (dance at home class videos, practice exercises, exam routines & stretching videos)
• Preschoolers:  Annual Certificate Presentation Class 
• Juniors, Grades & Seniors:  Annual opportunity to enter for performance awards, medal tests or exams, with the Royal Academy of Dance or New Zealand Association of Modern Dance.
• Opportunity to shine on stage in our 2021 theatre performances!  We have shows with rehearsal requirements and lengths to suit all our dancer age groups.  We do a theatre show every two years and a relaxed studio demonstration in the alternate year –  a nice balance of low key and high excitement!
• All required performance rehearsals.
• Catch up class/es in another class of your level, by appointment & space permitting, in cases of vacation/illness.

30-Min Class (1x/week):  $138 per term

30-Min Classes (2x+/week) e.g. Ballet & Jazz:  $134 per class, per term

45-Min Classes (1x/week):  $172 per term

45-Min Classes (2x+/week) e.g. Ballet & Jazz:  $168 per class, per term

1-Hour Classes (1x/week):  $182 per term

1-Hour Classes (2x+/week):  $178 per class, per term
