Ballet for 7-8 year olds

Your 7-8 year old will love learning ballet at our dance studio!  Ballet promotes good posture, poise and strength.  We work on developing a confident, happy and energetic dancers, learning skills and stamina that can be used in any area of life.

We teach a syllabus devised by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). This work is carefully graded to suit children to develop ballet skills slowly & carefully while encouraging enthusiasm and freedom of dance.

Our age levels are designed to fit with NZ school year age groups. Students in Year 3 (turning 7 before 1st May cutoff as a general rule) are in the Ballet Pre Grade level.  This is a 45 minute lesson. 

Class Times and Days 2026

Uniform

Dance schools all around the world wear a dance uniform, to help students and teachers alike get the most out of class. Long hair should be in a ballet bun for ballet or tied back neatly for class.

For your first class, don’t worry if you don’t have the uniform yet, just wear something comfortable to move in, and bare feet.  Upon enrolment we will send you all the information you need about dance uniform, hair etc.  

Option 1

• Lavender pinch-front leotard
• Ballet tights
• Ballet shoes
• Lavender skirt

Option 2

• White short-sleeved leotard
• Black leggings
• White socks
• White ballet shoes

Tuition

Class Tuition:  $188 per term — based on an 8-week term

Note:  Tuition is pro-rated by term length.  In 2026, one additional week of tuition will be added to 9-week terms (Terms 2 & 3).

Registration Fee:
$25 per new student (one-off).
