Jazz for 8-9 year olds
Jazz dancing is entertaining to watch, fun and active to participate in. Jazz features a combination of unique moves, intricate footwork, leaps and quick turns. Jazz 1 students take a one-hour weekly class, working towards an optional jazz medal test or exam and an end-of-year performance.
Our age levels are designed to fit with NZ school year age groups. Students in Year 4 (turning 8 before June 1st cutoff as a general rule) are in the Jazz Grade 1 level.

Uniform
Dance schools all around the world wear a dance uniform, to help students and teachers alike get the most out of class. Long hair should be in a ballet bun for ballet or tied back neatly for class.
For your first class, don’t worry if you don’t have the uniform yet, just wear something comfortable to move in, and bare feet. Upon enrolment we will send you all the information you need about dance uniform, hair etc.
