Jazz Pre Grades

Jazz for 7-8 year olds

Jazz dancing is entertaining to watch, fun and active to participate in. Jazz features a combination of unique moves, intricate footwork, leaps and quick turns.  Jazz Pre Grade students take a 45-minute weekly class, working towards an optional jazz medal test or exam and an end-of-year performance.

Our age levels are designed to fit with NZ school year age groups. Students in Year 3 (turning 8 before June 1st cutoff as a general rule) are in the Jazz Pre Grade level.

Class Times and Days 2026

Uniform

Dance schools all around the world wear a dance uniform, to help students and teachers alike get the most out of class. Long hair should be in a ballet bun for ballet or tied back neatly for class.

For your first class, don’t worry if you don’t have the uniform yet, just wear something comfortable to move in, and bare feet.  Upon enrolment we will send you all the information you need about dance uniform, hair etc.  

Option 1

• Lavender pinch-front leotard
• WDA shorts
• Black jazz shoes

Option 2

• Black WDA t-shirt
• Black shorts or leggings
• Black socks
• Black jazz shoes

Tuition

Class Tuition:  $188 per term — based on an 8-week term

Note:  Tuition is pro-rated by term length.  In 2026, one additional week of tuition will be added to 9-week terms (Terms 2 & 3).

Registration Fee:
$25 per new student (one-off).

• Multi-class rate (2+ weekly classes): $184 per class per term
