Hair & Makeup
Hair
As well as your costume, your hair and makeup ties the whole dance all together. Your teacher will advise you of any specific hair/makeup styles that your dance may require. But for hair generally ballet solos require a bun, while jazz it is a slick ponytail. Please make sure that you use hairspray and plenty of clips!
Makeup
For those parents and caregivers new to makeup, PRACTISE, PRACTISE, PRACTISE! If you have not done makeup on your dancer before please don’t turn up on the day expecting it to be perfect on the first go. Talk with your teacher about any special requirements (e.g if you have a demi-character that needs doll style makeup). For general stage makeup this is what you will need:
- Foundation (make sure you get the correct colour for your dancers skin tone.
- Pink blusher for the cheekbones
- Red Lipstick
- Black pencil (or liquid) for the line around the eyes and flick (please see)
- Mascara
- Eye shadow (ask your teacher which colour)
Handbook
Team Handbook will be uploaded here soon!
Competitions
Please speak to Suzanne about which upcoming competitions may suit your soloist.
