Enrolment

Students must be enrolled before they may participate in class. This is very important as teachers need to know students and class sizes in order to plan their classes.

100% Happiness Guarantee

Once enrolled, you can enjoy up to four weeks of classes, completely risk-free.

If your child’s class isn’t the right fit, just let us know within this time, and we’ll provide a full refund of tuition and the registration fee—no questions asked.

Simply complete our online enrolment form (with your preferred debit/card card details) to get started, and if it’s not the right match, we’ll make the refund process stress-free.

Tuition

Our term tuition is based on an 8-week minimum term, if a term is longer (9 or 10 weeks), tuition will increase to include those extra week/s so your dancer’s tuition matches the number of classes they receive. Exam practices, exam fees, costume fees and performance tickets are charged separately. See tuition fees schedule for amounts and dates. Tuition fees are payable by autopay (credit card) or invoice paid by the first day of each term. If a performance year, costumes will be charged well in advance, and notice must be given at that time if no costume is required because of non-participation in the end of year show.

Credit Card Payments

Time For Dancing Ltd (trading as Wellington Dance) is a New Zealand owned business. All tuition fees will be charged in NZD. The name that will appear on your statement will be Wellington Dance. Our policy for refunds is directly below. Click here for a full list of tuition fees.

Withdrawals & Refunds

Two weeks’ notice is required to stop classes. To withdraw from classes a parent must give two weeks advance notice in writing or via email to enable us to offer the space to another student and adjust accounts. Tuition must be paid during the two week notice period. All tuition charges will stop after the two-week notice period, and any tuition paid for beyond this date will be refunded.

School Calendar

The dance classes follow a four term year based on a minimum 8-week term. Term lengths are not always even. If a term is longer (9 or 10 weeks), tuition will increase to include those extra week/s so your dancer’s tuition matches the number of classes they receive. Classes are not held on Easter or public holidays (in some cases an option may be given to attend another class of the same level).

Observing Classes

Parent of Tiny Dance students are invited to watch classes. We ask that younger siblings are kept from joining in the class for safety reasons. For all other classes, we ask that parents only watch classes during viewing weeks, to allow children to relax and feel secure in their learning environment as well as concentrate on the teacher and their programme. Parents are welcome to discuss their progress with the dance teachers by appointment.

Substitutions & Cancellations

We reserve the right to cancel classes or provide a substitute teacher. Cancelled classes will be either be added on to the end of the term or year or refunded, at the school’s discretion. No refunds for classes made up will be given.

Dance Uniform

Dance shoes and dancewear must be worn to all classes. For safety reasons dancers are not permitted to wear jewellery and must wear their hair tied back. Street shoes and clothes are not allowed.

Attendance

Please inform the school office of absences. No classes will be made up or refunded for illness or non-attendance, aside from in exceptional circumstances as agreed with the office.

Parents’ Responsibility To Be Aware Of Dates & Events

It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities, such as viewing days, replacement classes, and dates the school is open or closed, sent via email and paper notices. Please ensure that you provide your most convenient email address. Our system notifies us of bounce-backs and successfully sent emails.

Care of Students

The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. A parent of a student under the age of 10 is to remain at the class location. All students are to be escorted to the studio and not left for long times before or after class. Please do not allow your children to play in the elevators.

Choreography

Choreography for classes, performances and competitions remain the artistic and intellectual property of Wellington Dance Academy teachers and/or the syllabus providers. Choreography must not be copied or used without prior permission of Wellington Dance Academy.

Students who leave the Academy are not permitted to perform choreography that was developed specifically for them by Wellington Dance Academy teachers as a competition solo or as part of a team/group without prior permission.

Taking Classes At Other Studios

Wellington Dance is a private dance school. To maintain consistency and for scheduling reasons, it is not possible for students to attend classes or private lessons with Wellington Dance if they are also taking classes at another studio. Students who have an accepted arrangement to dance at two studios (agreed with the Studio Director prior to 2017) may be able to continue this, if the Studio Director feels it is in the best interests of all parties.

Photo Release

Enrolment grants use photographs and video of students for teacher training purposes or for promotional materials the school creates.

Students must not enter the dance studios or touch any equipment without teachers’ permission.
